As the San Diego Seals prepare for their third season, the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Drew Belgrave on a two-year deal, pending league approval. Belgrave is the first player inked by San Diego since play was halted due to Covid-19 on March 12, 2020.
“We think Drew is on the cusp of being an elite defender in this league,” said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. “He’s athletic, intelligent and has the tools to play in many different situations on the field. We are thrilled to bring him back to San Diego for another two years.”
Belgrave, 24, has played in 28 games in Seals history, recording 64 loose balls, 24 caused turnovers and 7 points. The defenseman recorded career-highs during the 2018-19 season in games played (18) and loose balls (50). Belgrave signed with San Diego as a free agent in 2018 after spending his rookie season with the Toronto Rock. He was selected 15th overall in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft.
The San Diego Seals will return to Pechanga Arena for the 2020-21 season this winter, the NLL’s 35th anniversary season. Place your season ticket membership deposit today at SealsLax.com.
