The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has re-signed assistant captain Kyle Buchanan to a one-year contract, pending league approval.
“Kyle is a positive presence off of the floor and plays with a ton of heart on the floor,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “We are thrilled that he chose to re-sign with us and continue to help lead our team. He’s hungry to win a championship in this league and I know he’ll do whatever he can to help us achieve that goal next season.”
Buchanan, 31, appeared in 17 games for San Diego in the team’s inaugural season, registering 28 goals, 39 assists and 67 points. He ranked third on the team in assists and points, and recorded three eight-point games. Buchanan’s five-goal effort against Vancouver tied for a Seals single-game high by an individual player.
The right-handed forward is a seven-year NLL veteran and helped lead his teams to four-straight postseason appearances. Buchanan, a finalist for the 2019 NLL Teammate of the Year award, earned the NLL Sportsmanship Award (2015) after finishing two seasons without committing a single penalty.
