Putting on her first pair of tap shoes at six years old, Teran Brown has been dancing ever since. She brings more than a decade of experience coaching, choreographing and performing professionally to the San Diego Seals as the team’s Dance Team Manager.
“I am excited about directing the Seals dance team because of the rare opportunity to be part of an inaugural season,” said Brown. “I’ll be working on the dance team’s style & choreography from the ground up.”
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro graduate joins the Seals organization after spending two seasons as a line leader for the San Diego Charger Girls. She is entering her fifth season as the team director at San Diego Danceworks, a dance studio in Clairemont. Brown’s career has spanned the spectrum – from TV commercials to theme parks. She even spent two years teaching dance in China, and traveled the world as a cruise line performer.
Making the transition from professional dancer to manager, Brown says she’s both excited and ready for the new opportunity.
Dedicating her career to her mentor, Kevin Patterson (who is currently the director of the Academy of Performing Arts San Diego), Brown admires Patterson for helping artists and dancers achieve success. She says he has mastered the delicate balance of being a strong leader while also being someone everyone loves to be around.
Brown is “honored to be making decisions that will become Seals’ traditions for years to come.” She knows the hard work and long hours required to perform at a high level, and will instill this commitment in the team’s dancers.
“You can expect our squad to deliver exciting performances at every home game, and be very active in the San Diego community,” said Brown. “I’m looking forward to creating memories with our team and the fans!”
