The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has agreed to terms with veteran defenseman Mike Carnegie, pending league approval.
“Mike is a former NLL captain and champion,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “He brings leadership, grit and intelligence to our defensive corps and we are excited to welcome him to the Seals organization.”
Carnegie, 35, is a twelve-year NLL veteran and played his entire career with the Calgary Roughnecks. As the Roughnecks’ captain, Carnegie helped lead his team to ten postseason appearances, three division titles and two NLL Championships. The Halton, ON native registered 688 loose balls, 176 points and 163 caused turnovers in 182 career games.
The 5-10, 190-pound defenseman was named one of Calgary’s “Top 40 Under 40” by Avenue Magazine for donating half his salary to charity to assist the people of Burma.
