The San Diego Seals will close out regular-season play for their inaugural season at home against the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday at 7:00 PM PT. Old meets new as the oldest team in the National Lacrosse League faces off against one of the league’s newest teams at Pechanga Arena San Diego.
San Diego could clinch the top seed in the Western Division heading into the final weekend of regular-season play. If the Seals beat the Bandits, and the Mammoth beat the Rush, the team would lock-up first place heading into playoffs.
“We’re playing the team with the best record in the league,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “It’s going to be a tough game, but it will be a good challenge heading into the playoffs. We still have a chance at first place in the West and we’re treating this game like a playoff game.”
Forward Casey Jackson leads the team with 37 goals. Last time out, Jackson netted four goals, including the team’s first penalty shot.
“This is a must-win game,” said Jackson. “We’re going into playoffs and looking to peak at the right time. Every game is important at this point. We know what we have to do tomorrow night to get it done.”
The San Diego Seals clinched home-field advantage for the Western Division Semifinal when the team defeated the Colorado Mammoth in Week 19. The Seals will host that game on Monday, May 6 at 7:30 PM PT at Pechanga Arena San Diego.
