(TORONTO, ON – Feb. 15, 2019) – In a hard-fought game of inches and seconds, the San Diego Seals fell to the Toronto Rock by a final score of 12-11 at Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.
“They’re a good lacrosse team,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “They made us pay for some mental errors at critical times during the game, but we were proud of the fact that we hung in there and gave ourselves a chance to win in the fourth quarter. We are going to regroup, refocus and prepare mentally and physically for the next game against Vancouver.”
Casey Jackson continued to stay hot, netting four goals and adding one assist. Jackson and the offensive unit scored five goals in the third quarter to bring the team within one heading into the final frame.
“A loss stings but it’s a positive coming off of last week,” said Jackson. “We played hard out there tonight for the full 60 minutes. The offense is clicking again, which is nice to see out there. We’ll go into the bye week with our heads held high and looking for a little revenge.”
Forward Garrett Billings finished the night with five points (one goal, four assists) as he faced his former team. Rookie forwards Connor Kearnan and Austin Staats each added a goal, while goaltender Frank Scigliano saved 47 shots, allowing only one goal in the fourth.
“We felt like ourselves again tonight,” said Staats. “We were following the game plan and listening to the coaches, just fell a little short. We had our chance there at the very end, they’re a good team. We’re going to come out strong against Vancouver.”
The San Diego Seals return home on Sat., Mar. 2 to face the Vancouver Warriors at Pechanga Arena San Diego at 7:00 PM PST. Reserve your seats today at SealsLax.com.
