Just over a month after winning his third NLL championship, Adrian Sorichetti heard his name called by Seals general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill in the 2018 NLL Expansion Draft.
Sorichetti spent the last five seasons with the Rush organization, and was part of the dynasty that won three championships in the last four seasons.
“Winning never gets old,” said Sorichetti. “It’s contagious and I hope to bring that spark to San Diego. You don’t want to be in the locker room with guys who don’t care about winning.”
Sorichetti brings his grit, passion and excitement to the Seals, along with 24 years of playing experience. Since the age of three, he’s had a stick in his hand and remembers falling in love right from the start. The transition player says the key is to continue to set goals and achieve them in every step of life, both professionally and personally.
Growing up in Whitby, Ontario, Sorichetti says, “I didn’t really have that moment where I was like ‘man I’m pretty good’.” His desire to be a better person than a player, combined with his ability to stay focused and driven, made him a key contributor as a professional.
Being part of the inaugural season in San Diego is a “dream come true” for Sorichetti. The opportunity to bring lacrosse to America’s Finest City is once-in-a-lifetime, and the year-round sunshine doesn’t hurt either.
“San Diego is truly one of my favorite places,” said Sorichetti. “I love the people, the waves and the community, and I can’t wait to represent the city on and off the floor.”
