(SAN DIEGO – November 25, 2019) – The San Diego Seals announced today the active 21-man roster for the 2019-20 season.
The 21-man active roster is highlighted by veteran leadership and a young, athletic core. Captain Brodie Merrill and starting goaltender Frank Scigliano are two of 12 returners suiting up for the Seals this season. Five rookies, including Connor Fields and defenseman Matt Sykes (Seals second-round draft pick), earned their spot on the final roster.
The Seals added star-power, experience and depth with the offseason additions of forwards Wesley Berg, Zack Greer and Jeremy Noble. Some familiar faces, including Austin Staats and Casey Jackson, will start the season on the Inactive Roster due to injury.
“We had a very competitive training camp,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “We couldn’t be more excited about our 2019-2020 San Diego Seals team. There were a lot of difficult decisions we had to make, and some injuries we had to consider. We’re putting what we believe will be a competitive roster on the floor this season as we strive to win a championship for our fans and the city of San Diego.”
