The San Diego Seals welcome the Saskatchewan Rush to Pechanga Arena San Diego on Friday night at 7:30 PM PT for arguably the team’s biggest game to date.
What’s on the line? With a win, the Seals can clinch a home playoff game for the first round of the NLL Playoffs. San Diego can take the season-series against the Rush, completing the division season-series sweep. And to top it off, the Seals will be honoring cancer patients and survivors with the team’s Stick Up For A Cure campaign.
“It’s going to be an emotional night,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “We know how important the game is, but it’s more than that. The guys will be out there playing for something bigger than themselves. We’re hoping to bounce back, forget about last weekend, and focus on Friday night.”
Last time out, forward Connor Kelly had a breakout game for the Seals netting four goals against New England. The rookie looks to continue to contribute against the defending champion Saskatchewan Rush.
“I’m just looking to do whatever I can to help the team,” said Kelly. “We have three huge games left at home, and there would be no better way to kick off the homestretch. I’m proud to suit up with the group of guys we have in that locker room. We’re studying, getting our minds and bodies prepared, and we’ll come out ready to play.”
The Seals will be wearing commorative jerseys for Stick Up For A Cure. The ribbon on the center-chest of each jersey will be colored to represent the type of cancer chosen by the auction winner. The back nameplate above each player’s number will feature the words “I’m Sticking Up For,” followed by the name chosen by the auction winner. Immediately following the game, the auction winner will receive the jersey from the player on the field during a special Jerseys Off Our Back celebration. Stick Up For A Cure items will be autioned throughout the game. Download the LiveSource App to place your bids.
