(San Diego, CA – October 25, 2018) – The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has signed six players selected in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft. Rylan Hartley, Graydon Bradley, Connor Kelly, Jules Heninburg, Zac Christianson and Jake Cook have all inked two-year contracts.
“We’re excited to have secured a young core for the future in San Diego,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “They each bring something a little different to the table, and we are confident in the foundation we are laying.”
Rylan Hartley was the first goaltender taken in the draft with the 15thoverall pick (second round). He was named Ontario Jr. A’s league Most Valuable Player this year, and also won the Chris Sanderson Award as the Most Valuable Goalie.
Graydon Bradley was taken two picks later by the Seals. The 6-4, 185-pound transition player was a standout in the British Columbia Jr. A league and helped lead the Coquitlam Saints to the Minto Cup finals.
Maryland superstar Connor Kelly was a third-round selection. The right-handed forward collected 191 points in 76 games for the Terps. He was the 2018 team captain, a 2018 Tewaaraton Award finalist and a two-time All-American. The Easton, CT native graduated as Maryland’s all-time leader in career appearances, and is tied for second in single-game assists (7) and points (10), and third in single-season points (82 in 2018).
Fellow third-rounder Jules Heninburg played college lacrosse at Rutgers University. His 207 career points rank second all-time for the Scarlet Knights. He was a two-time All-American and a two-time first-team All-Big Ten.
Defenseman Zac Christianson finished his career at Robert Morris University with career-highs in ground balls (38) and caused turnovers (22) in 2018. Jake Cook caused 18 turnovers and scooped up 34 ground balls in 33 games with Providence College.
