(SAN DIEGO – August 2, 2018) – The more the merrier! The Seals announced today that the team has signed San Diegan Kevin Cooper, pending league approval. The team also signed Lauchlin Elder to a one-year deal.
Cooper, 27, played college lacrosse at the University of Maryland from 2010 to 2013 and currently resides in Encinitas, CA. He led his team to two national championship games in 2011 and 2012. The right-handed forward finished his collegiate career with 81 points, 37 goals and 44 assists in 56 games. As a senior, he led the team in points (42) and assists (22) and was named to the 2011 ACC All-Tournament Team.
Elder, 23, was selected in the third round (22nd overall) in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft. The 6-2, 185-pound defender registered 15 goals and 4 assists out the back door for the Burlington Chiefs in 2017.
“Cooper and Elder add depth to the organization,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “They have great lacrosse minds and we like what they can bring to the Seals.”
With two additional signings, that brings the total up to fourteen players signed by the Seals since free agency began at midnight eastern time on August 1st.
